BANGKOK, Dec 8 (TNA) – The pro-military Palang Pracharat Party (PPP) says Saturday that there is enough time for the party to canvass for votes for the upcoming election.
PPP secretary-general Sontirat Sontijirawong made his remarks after the National Council for Peace and Order and the Election Commission on Friday held discussions with representatives of political parties.
He said it is clear now that the general election will be held on February 24 while the PPP will hold a major meeting next Monday to elect a committee, responsible for screening candidates to contest in the election.
Election campaigning will be allowed from Jan 2 onwards when a royal decree calling for that poll date is published in the Royal Gazette.
He said time is sufficient as political parties will have about two months for poll campaigns. (TNA)
