BANGKOK, DEC 7 (TNA) – Thai Prime Minister Prayut
Chan-o-cha takes a pledge to fight against corruption at a national event
marking the International Anti-Corruption Day.
The National Anti-Corruption Commission and other
organizations and individuals have co-organized the event at Impact Muang Thong
Thani convention center before the International Anti-Corruption Day on
December 9.
Thailand holds the annual event to raise awareness on
corruption eradication as it has adopted the policy of Zero Tolerance against
corruption
Prayut made a pledge to fight corruption, urging people to
learn from past experience of the dangers of corruption to the country. In the pledge, Prayut led the crowd to
declare that he will observe integrity, abstaining from corruption, uphold to
justice and seek public interests above personal interests.
“We must build anti-corruption culture, promote
accountability and transparency of all sectors,” Prayut said.
“Anti-corruption has been his government’s priority by means
of providing economic opportunities, reducing social inequality,” he told the
gathering.
The United Nations General Assembly designated 9 December
each year as International Anti-Corruption Day in 2003. (TNA)
