BANGKOK, Nov 15 (TNA) – A wedding planner organizer in
Bangkok is accused of swindling deposits worth millions of baht from hundreds
of couples.
Police on Thursday arrested the owner and the manager of
Panvisit wedding planner shop in Lad Phrao area after receiving complaints from
at least 700 people.
Both male suspects have allegedly posted false advertisement
luring people to sign contracts for their service packages. Complainers said
the suspects failed to deliver such as missing appointments and providing
low-quality wedding gowns.
A bride-to-be said she learned about the service from social
media and agreed to buy a wedding gown because the shop showed a large
collection displayed by credible models. After paying deposit, the shop never
received her calls.
The shop owner, Pannavit Jongraksantikul said his business
faced many problems claiming that customers failed to return rental wedding gown
on time and staff shortage. He pledged to give refunds to all customers.
There is a long list of customers, adding up to 700 people
who said they paid nearly Bt8 million to the shop.
Police said the two
suspects would be charged not only for fraud but also cybercrime. They have looked into the suspects’ other
shops and finance transaction for possible money laundering.(TNA)
