BANGKOK, Nov 13 (TNA) – China’s leading bloggers tour
Thailand’s tourist destinations in a social media campaign of the Tourism
Authority of Thailand (TAT).
TAT deputy governor Chattan Kunjara Na Ayudhya on Tuesday
hosted a reception banquet for 22 key opinion leaders that TAT invited to the
program.
The bloggers selected by TAT’s offices in major Chinese
cities are scheduled to visit key tourist destinations in Pattaya city and in
the provinces of Chon Buri, Rayong, Phetchaburi and Phuket.
Mr. Chattan said the program was launched in the hope that
these key opinion leaders would review these tourist spots on their respective
blogs.
Chinese tourists are the largest group of visitors to
Thailand. From January to September this
year, 8.3 million Chinese arrived in Thailand, on pace to reach 10.5 million
mark for 2018, the TAT deputy governor said.
The campaign is the latest effort by Thai authorities to woo
Chinese tourists to the Kingdom, which has been a hugely popular destination
among them.
The number of Chinese tourists has significantly dipped due
to a boat tragedy in Phuket which killed more than 45 people, mostly Chinese,
in July.(TNA)
