SINGAPORE, Nov 13 (TNA) – Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha leads his delegation to attend the 33rd ASEAN Summit in Singapore, as Thailand is taking over ASEAN chair for next year.
Prayut will join other leaders of ASEAN members and dialogue partners in the 33rd edition of ASEAN Summit from Tuesday to Thursday. He then will proceed to Papua New Guinea for the 26th APEC Summit on November 16 to 18.
The opening ceremony of the summit will be hosted by Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong as the Chairman of this year’s Summit, followed by other related summits including East Asia Summit (EAS), Regional Comprehensive Economic Summit (RCEP) and ASEAN plus summits.
On taking over ASEAN chair from Singapore, the Thai Prime Minister has said Thailand will promote connectivity among ASEAN countries and peoples.
ASEAN chairmanship is rotated annually among all 10 members in alphabetical order.
Prayut is expected to deliver key messages to the grouping such as continued efforts to improve digital connectivity to drive the future economy and strengthen ASEAN Community with innovations.(TNA)
