BANGKOK, Oct 30 (TNA) – The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) plans to operate 244 train trips to handle an increasing number of travellers during the New Year holiday.
SRT acting governor, Worawut Mala said that the train management plan was laid out to run 244 train trips daily from December 28 to January 4.
Additional carriages will be provided to serve the increased number of passengers, estimated around 100,000 per day.
He said the highest number of passengers of about 150,000 is expected from December 29 to December 31. The SRT is confident that there will be no passengers stranded.
The acting governor also ordered staff and railway police to step up safety measures and make sure that the trains run on schedule. (TNA)
