BANGKOK, June 12 (TNA) – Kraisak Choonhavan, the only son of the late prime minister Chatichai Choonhavan died of tongue cancer at the age of 72 yesterday.
He passed away at Siriraj Hospital after having been treated for cancer four years.
Kraisak earned a bachelor’s degree on foreign relations from George Washington University and a master’s degree from the School of Oriental and African Studies in England
He was an adviser to his father’s government and played a key role as a negotiator at peace talks in Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam and pushed for the then-government policy to turn Indochina from a war zone to trade zone.
He was also former deputy leader of the Democrat Party from 2008 to 2011, former senator for Nakhon Ratchasima and former party-list MP. (TNA)
