BANGKOK, May 27 (TNA) – Authorities discussed the third stage of relaxing business lockdowns and shortened curfew hours and convenient inter-provincial trips are expected to get approval.
Gen Somsak Rungsita, secretary-general of the National Security Council, who heads an ad hoc committee on business restrictions in the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic discussed the issue with representatives from the army, the Interior Ministry, the Public Health Ministry, the Disease Control Department and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration.
The meeting was expected to work out a list of businesses and activities to resume under the third round of lockdown relaxation and approval was anticipated for shortened night-time curfew hours, convenient inter-provincial travel and the businesses that will stimulate the national economy.
The officials were also set to discuss with operators the types of businesses that should be suspended longer for posing high risks of COVID-19 transmission.
Participants in the meeting did not answer reporters’ questions before the session. The meeting would likely be time-consuming after the cabinet decided to extend the state of emergency for another month to control COVID-19. (TNA)
