BANGKOK, May 16 (TNA) – The Ministry of Public Health has announced that South Korea, China, Macao and Hong Kong were removed from Thailand’s list of dangerous communicable disease infected zones of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Dr Walairat Chaifoo, director of epidemiology at the Department of Disease Control, said the Royal Gazette published the removal which took effect on May 16.
However, the announcement will not lift control on travel between Thailand and the countries and the territories because the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand has not allowed any airlines to operate international flights with the countries and the territories and the government continues to restrict international trips under its state of emergency imposed to curb COVID-19.
Besides, the Department of Disease Control was imposing its strict measures to control the disease, Dr Walairat said.
Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia and Indonesia had not been removed from the list of dangerous communicable disease infected zones because they still posed risks of disease transmission, she said. (TNA)
