BANGKOK, April 27 (TNA) — The Mass Rapid Transit Authority helps control the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) by screening its train passengers with thermal cameras at all entrances and exits of all stations.
MRTA governor Pakapong Sirikantaramas said Thermoscan cameras and thermometers were applied and security measures were stepped up at all stations throughout the service hours of MRTA’s electric trains.
Its officials also regularly sanitized its trains and stations, especially frequently touched surfaces such as lift buttons, handrails, fare gates, ticket-vending machines and tokens. MRTA also checks the body temperatures of all staff before they start to work, provides commuters with hand sanitizer gel, arranges for face masks sales areas at stations and advises commuters to do social distancing and wear face masks.
The MRTA governor said the Blue Line railway was serving about 90,000 passengers a day on weekdays and 30,000 a day on weekends and the Purple Line was carrying 13,000 commuters a day on weekdays and 3,000-4,000 people a day on weekends. (TNA)
