BANGKOK, April 21 (TNA) – The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has extended the ban on sales of alcoholic beverages until April 30 to curb the Covid-19 outbreak.
The BMA first imposed the ban from April 10 – 20, aiming to restrict social gathering and group drinking during the Songkran Thai traditional festival.
BMA spokesman Pongsakorn Kwanmuang announced on Monday that the ban was extended for another 10 days to the end of this month.
Bangkok is considered as the country’s leading Covid-19 hotspot, recording the highest number of COVID-19 — 1,440 of 2,792 cumulative cases as of April 20.
The capital’s infection rate was 25.39 per 100,000 population, second to Phuket with a ratio of 46.44 per 100,000people, according to the figures from the Public Health Ministry. (TNA)
