BANGKOK, Feb 25 (TNA) – Organizers of Thailand’s largest
gems and jewelry trade fair expect fewer visitors and revenue at this year’s
event due to the Covid-19 outbreak.
The 65th Bangkok Gems and Jewelry Fair (BGJF) kicked off on
Tuesday and will run until Saturday at Impact Maung Thong Thani, just outside
Bangkok.
Vice Minister for Commerce Sansern Samalapa said despite the
ongoing outbreak over 2,000 business representatives had registered to attend
the event where around 1,000 manufacturers exhibiting their products.

Susomboon said the organizing committee had worked with public health authorities
to carry out health screening in line with international standard at the venue.
He said the Department expected 10,000 visitors at the fair,
down from 15,000 last year.
The trade volume during the fair was also revised down from
the target THB2.4 billion to THB2 billion, he added.
The Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair is held to facilitate
new opportunities for Thai entrepreneurs to meet international buyers with an
ambition to promote Thailand’s potential as the world’s jewelry hub.
Thailand’s gems and Jewelry industry displays its products
