BANGKOK, Jan 30 (TNA) – The confirmed coronavirus cases
in Thailand remain at 14, eight of them are still being hospitalized, says the
Public Health Ministry on Thursday.
Dr. Sophon Iam-sirithavorn, a senior ministry official,
stressed in a daily press briefing that no patients had been found infected in
Thailand.
The tally has been unchanged since Thailand announced six
new cases on Tuesday, bringing the total number to 14. Five of the new confirmed cases are members
of the same family from Hubei province together. The other is a Chinese tourist from
Chongqing, south west of Hubei province.
Six of the confirmed cases in Thailand have already been
discharged and returned home to China.
Dr. Sophon said 202 people had been put under close
surveillance since Thailand began health screening for the coronavirus
infection on January 3.
Forty four new suspected patients found on Wednesday
included two taxi drivers who were hired by Chinese tourists two days ago. But their conditions were not serious, said
Dr. Sophon.
Many of the 202 suspected cases had been examined at
airports or hospitals were found to be infected with common flu – 67 of them
have already been discharged.
Health officials also demonstrated the correct way to use
facemasks in order to effectively prevent virus infection. (TNA)
