BANGKOK, Jan 16 (TNA) – Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha
on Thursday called on teachers to foster democratic and moral principles in
their students on the occasion of the national Teacher’s Day.
Thailand marks the Teacher’s Day which falls on January 16
each year.
During the 64th edition of the annual National Teacher’s Day
at the Teachers’ Council of Thailand, Prayut paid respect to teachers including
his high school teacher.
In his speech, Prayut said teachers who had great responsibility
in the country’s development must instill moral and democratic principles in
their classes.
While protecting their rights, all citizens must not
infringe upon others, he said.
At the event, 473 teachers and educationists were given
awards of recognitions for their roles in education development.
Thailand celebrates National Teacher’s Day to honour
teachers who hold special status in Thai culture. Activities, from religious rituals to
ceremony of paying respect to teachers, are held at schools highlighting the
importance of teachers. (TNA)
