BANGKOK, Dec 23 (TNA) – Thailand’s oldest hospital,
Siriraj, joins hands with China’s Shenzhen Geno-immune Medical Institute (GIMI)
to conduct a clinical research into cancer immunotherapy.
Prof. Dr. Prasit Watanapa, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine,
Siriraj Hospital, and Prof. Dr. Lung-Ji Chang, Chairman of GIMI, signed a
Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Research Cooperation on Monday.
With GIMI’s cell-based immunotherapy, Siriraj would conduct
researches on gene therapies for leukemia and lymphoma, said Prof. Dr. Prasit.
Immunotherapy was an ideal solution to patients with
chemotherapy resistance, he noted.
The results could help lower treatment costs by over 10
times, he said, adding that Siriraj Hospital would expand its immunotherapy
research for other types of cancers. (TNA)
