BANGKOK, Sept 25 (TNA) — Kasikorn Research Center expects people in Bangkok will spend 4.76 billion baht on vegetarian foods and drinks during the vegetarian festival, up 2.4% year-on-year from the same period last year.
The center said that the spending was predicted during the festival from Sept 29 to Oct 7. Its survey found that the festival should convince 66.7% of Bangkok people to eat vegetarian foods and drinks. The proportion will rise from 57.1% last year.
The center explained that more people including young ones would join the festival out of their health interest. However, the number of vegetarian meals would drop.
The spending increment was capped at 2.4%, lower than last year’s growth rate, because of the present economic slowdown, Kasikorn Research Center said.
The research center of Kasikornbank also said that young and elderly people became a big group of people and a major factor of the food market. It suggested producers to introduce various and health-promoting food products including ornanic foods and highly nutritious rice. (TNA)
