BANGKOK, Dec 4 (TNA) — The Mass Rapid Transit Authority (MRTA) has extended service on the southern end of its Blue Line electric railway by four more stations and offers free services initially.
MRTA and its concessionaire Bangkok Expressway and Metro PCL today extended the service to Bang Pho, Bang Ao, Bang Phlat, and Sirindhorn stations. The free tentative run for general commuters is set between 10am and 4pm until March 29, 2020.
The rest of the extended Blue Line will start its trial run from January 2020 onwards reaching Bang Yi Khan, Bang Khun Non, Fai Chai, Charan 13 and Tha Phra stations.
MRTA expects the Blue Line service extension to raise the number of its passengers from 480,000 to 550,000 a day right away and to 800,000 daily in one year. (TNA)
