BANGKOK, Dec 3 (TNA) – A moderate high-pressure system
covers much of the north of Thailand causing temperature to drop by 5-10
degrees.
The Meteorological Department has warned of the sharp drop
in temperature from Tuesday to Saturday
Mercury in most of the north and the northeast dropped to
16-22 degrees and 6-12 degrees in mountain areas. Medical units have been dispatched to remote
areas out of concerns over effects of cold weather to the elderly people.
Strong high-pressure system will continue to cover upper
Thailand today with cold gusty winds, the Meteorological Department predicted.
Local officials across Thailand have warned people to brace
for chilly conditions.
For tourists, cold weather on mountaintops with isolated
frost is favorable condition. At
recreational areas, tourists have flocked to witness the rare cold
condition. Many enjoyed sunrise and sea
of fog views at scenic points. (TNA)
