BANGKOK, Nov 21 (TNA) – Pope Francis visited Government House and was received by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and high-level authorities.
Pope Francis arrived at Government House at 9am. He was welcomed by Prime Minister Prayut, cabinet ministers and representatives of the Christendom. The pope paid the official visit on Nov 20-23 as invited by the Thai government.
At Government House Pope Francis received respect from guards of honour from the armed forces. Then he talked with cabinet ministers and representatives of the Christendom.
Prime Minister Prayut said that on behalf of Thai people, he was honoured to have the opportunity to welcome the pope and the visit was a special occasion in relation to ties between Thailand and Vatican City.
Pope Francis then delivered his speech to the cabinet, representatives of the armed forces and the Vatican, diplomats and guests of the government.
Afterwards the pope called on the Supreme Patriarch at Wat Ratchabophit and visited Saint Louis Hospital.
This evening Pope Francis will have an audience with His Majesty the King at the Amphorn Sathan Residential Hall and offer Mass at the National Stadium where about 70,000 people are expected. (TNA)
