NAN, Nov 21 (TNA) – Damages from a strong earthquake,
centered in northwestern Laos were reported in Thailand’s border province of
Nan.
The 6.4 magnitude quake occurred around 6.50 a.m. on
Thursday morning, felt by people in Thailand’s North and Northeast and
residents in Bangkok’s high-rise buildings.
Damages were reported in the border province of Nan,
particularly in Bor Kluea district
and Chaloem Phrakiat district,
connecting Laos.
A Border Patrol Police school’s roof
and ceiling partially collapsed. The school announced to close today for the
safety reasons.
Cracks were found on the wall of the 500-year-old
ordination hall of the Phra That Khao Noi temple in Muang Nan district.
Broken glass was seen at a branch of the Government
Savings Bank in Tha Wang Pha district.
Director- General of the Meteorological Department,
Gp. Capt. Somsak Khawsuwan said over 100 small and large tremors occurred in
Laos since 11 p.m. on Nov 20.
The major one with a
magnitude tremor measuring 6.4
was recorded at 6.50 a.m. on Thursday, three kilometrers below the
