BANGKOK, Nov 15 (TNA) – Future Forward Party leader Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit is one of three Thais on the Time magazine’s Time 100 Next 2019 list.
The list, highlighting 100 rising stars, who are shaping the future is categorized into Artists, Advocates, Leaders, Phenoms and Innovators.
Thanathorn, chosen in the category of Leaders is described by the magazine as the billionaire scion of a car-parts empire. He succeeded in re-energizing young Thais, who flocked to his banner of ending the cycle of coups and bloody street protests that has dogged Thailand for more than 80 years.
Two other Thais also on the list are landscape architect Kotchakorn Voraakhom and singer Lalisa “Lisa” Manoban of K-pop band Blackpink.
Kotchakorn, listed in the category of “Innovators” created an 11-acre “thirsty” plot capable of absorbing 1 million gallons of water through a combination of sloped gardens, wetlands and a retention pond after Thailand suffered its worst flooding in half a century in 2011.
Later this year, her firm Landprocess will open a second, 36-acre park featuring the biggest urban farming green roof in Asia, the magazine said.
In the category of “Phenoms”, Lisa is on the list as a member of “Blackpink”.
The K-pop girl group has 31 million subscribers on YouTube and became the first one to perform at Coachella, it said. (TNA)
