BANGKOK, Oct 24 (TNA) – Thailand has prepared tight
security plan for the upcoming 35th ASEAN Summit in November.
Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan on Thursday called a
meeting of security agencies in preparation for the Summit and related meetings
starting from October 31 to November 4.
According to Defence Ministry spokesman Lt General Kongcheep
Tantravanich, Prawit instructed traffic police to review all security and
transportation procedures.
Prawit, who oversees national security, ordered relevant
agencies to ensure smooth implementations of security plans and their readiness
during the Summit, Kongcheep said.
Related agencies including the Interior Ministry, the
Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, and the Royal Thai Police, must closely
coordinate in carrying out the security measures while minimize disruptions to
people’s daily life, said Kongcheep.
The Royal Thai Police earlier said up to 10,000 police officers
will be deployed during the final meeting of world leaders under Thailand’s
ASEAN chairmanship this year. (TNA)
