BANGKOK, Oct 8 (TNA) – The Environmental Justice Foundation (EJF)’s director praised Thailand for its success in tackling the illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing (IUU) during his meeting to Thai deputy prime minister Gen. Prawit Wongsuwon.
Steve Trent, executive director of the Environmental Justice Foundation paid a courtesy call on Gen. Prawit at the Ministry of Defence on Tuesday, said assistant defence spokesman Phatchasak Patirupanon.
Trent praised Thailand for its success in tackling IUU problems, the first country in the region. He said EJF was ready to give support and advice to Thailand to solve the problem sustainably.
Meanwhile, Gen. Prawit thanked the EJF director for assistance in helping Thailand in the past 4-5 years until the European Union lifted the IUU yellow card, imposed on Thailand in 2015.
The deputy prime minister said Thailand will continue to work on the issue to achieve its target on IUU Free. (TNA)
