SA KAEO, Sept 26 (TNA) – Over 300 fake brand-named
sneakers, T-shirts and cigarettes have been seized after a Cambodian man
abandoned them near a Thai border checkpoint.
In the apparent smuggling attempt, the Cambodian man was
carrying the counterfeit goods in his cart.
When approaching the checkpoint at Klong Luek border crossing the man abruptly
left the cart and fled away.
Customs and police officers who have enforced intellectual
property rights protection measure found the counterfeit goods with estimated
value of about THB350,000.
Police said the goods were intended to be transported to the famous
Rong Kluea market in Thailand’s Aranyaprathet district, where Thai authorities
have already battled against pirated good trade.
Thailand has asked Cambodia to join hands in stamping out
the sale of pirated goods, conducting regular search to stamp out illegal
counterfeit products.(TNA)
