UBON RATCHATHANI, Sept 19 (TNA) – Prime Minister Prayut
Chan-o-cha on Thursday visited the northeastern province of Ubon Ratchathani, pledging
that the government would provide quick assistance and compensation for the flood
victims.
Gen Prayut and his entourage arrived at a shelter in Warin
Chamrap district, one of some 17 districts of Ubon Ratchathani which have been
declared disaster zones.
He gave moral support for more than 600 flood victims taking
shelter in the facility.
The premier admitted slow disbursement of relief
compensation due to bureaucratic process.
After meeting with the evacuees and officials at the
shelter, Gen Prayut also visited people in the flood-hit areas by boat.
Since tropical storms Podul and Kajiki hit Thailand early
this month, Ubon Ratchathani has been hit hardest by flooding from heavy downpours.
