SONGKHLA, Sept 11 (TNA) – Local authorities are ready to launch the Hat Yai Moon Festival on Sept 12 -14 when the main southern business district of Hat Yai will feature with a giant lantern, illuminations and street arts among others.
Songkhla deputy governor Sakara Kapilkan said the Hat Yai Moon Festival 2019 was set on Niphat Uthit 1 and Thammanoon Withee roads in Hat Yai district. Many sponsors were lending a helping hand for the special event, including the Tourism Authority of Thailand, the Tourists Business Federation of Songkhla and the Thai-Chinese Association of Songkhla. The event was aimed at promoting the Mid-Autumn Festival aka the Moon Festival as well as tourism in Hat Yai district.
A Giant lantern in red and other colors will line local roads. Street arts will be on Niphat Uthit 1 Road to represent Chinese cultures with ancient buildings as their backgrounds for visitors’ check-ins.
There will also be contests of Moon Goddess Chang’e and Moon Festival altars as well as a free concert, illuminations on Sino-Portuguese buildings, delicious mooncakes, dragon and lion dances and more than 100 food stalls, Mr Sakara said. (TNA)
