BANGKOK, Sept 6 (TNA) – Thewan Liptapanlop, Minister to the Prime Minister’s Office conferred awards to the winners of the “Pride of ASEAN” photo contest.
The photo contest was organized by the Government Public Relations Department in collaboration with the Royal Photographic Society of Thailand. It is part of projects to promote Thailand as ASEAN chair this year.
A total of 5,235 entries, portraying varieties of ASEAN culture were submitted for the contest with approximately $13,000 in total cash prizes.
The winning photo, called the Sea of Flags is the work of Jamikorn Srikam. The first runner-up is Sanchai Buasong with his photo “Paying Homage to Phra That Luang” (the Great Stupa in Laos). The second runner-up is Jirapong Wongwiwat and his photo is called “Pouring Water onto a Buddha Image”.
Fifty entries received honourary mention recognition.
All 53 photos will be published in special books for participants in the 35th ASEAN summit in Bangkok in November 2-4.
The photos are also being showcased at the photo exhibition at Central Grand Rama9. (TNA)
