BANGKOK, Aug28 (TNA) – Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha is ready to clarify his oath-taking controversy if he is informed formally to do so, said Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krue-ngam.
Gen Prayut has never avoided attending parliamentary sessions for the debate on the issue, Mr Wissanu insisted.
The Office of Ombudsman forwarded the incomplete oath case, petitioned by a university student to the Constitutional Court.
If the court accepts the case, it will give an opportunity for the prime minister to explain about the omission in parliament. However, the timeframe has not been fixed, the deputy prime minister added.
The parliamentary opposition is seeking to hold a debate on the oath controversy next month.
After the opposition submitted a motion for a general debate without a resolution to be passed under the provision of Article 152, the prime minister will attend the session to clarify the facts.
The date and the timeframe are being arranged in accordance with the required procedures.
The prime minister has been under fire after he omitted a sentence in the oath-taking which stated in Section 161 of the Constitution that (the oath-taker) will uphold and comply with the constitution of the kingdom in every aspect. (TNA)
