BANGKOK, Aug 27 (TNA) – Thai prime minister Prayut
Chan-o-cha has urged chiefs of defense in the Indo-Pacific to build strategic
partnership to achieve sustainable stability.
Gen Prayut delivered his speech at the opening of the Chiefs
of Defense Conference 2019 (CHOD 2019) co-hosted by the United States
Indo-Pacific Command and the Royal Thai Armed Forces in Bangkok on
Tuesday.
Gen Prayut told the gathering of Chiefs of Defense of more
than 33 countries that strategic partnership among participating countries must
focus on trust-building and close collaboration for mutual prosperity.
He said world community faced emerging challenges that
affected global security such as climate change and pollution.
The COHD 2019 themed “Collaboration for a free and Open
Indo – Pacific” provides a forum for perspectives on challenges faced by
attending nations and open discussions among military leaders. (TNA)
