BANGKOK, Dec 24 (TNA) — Deputy Prime Minister/Minister for Justice Prajin Juntong urged the public not to be worried over the plan to legalise the cannabis.
Air Chief Marshal Prajin Juntong is responding the criticism that the government’s plans to legalise cannabis will allow foreign companies to monopolise the market.
He said that there was nothing to be worried about because state agencies would be overseeing the matter to ensure that the country would not be at a disadvantage.
He added that the government would protect the country’s best interests and had assigned state agencies to oversee the matter.
Part of the government’s plans is to equip farmers with all the tools they will need to take advantage the situation.
The Office of the Narcotics Control Board, Ministry of Public Health and Ministry of Education were presently providing farmers with all details regarding the types of cannabis breeds, planting methods, disease and pest control, storage, the suitable moister and temperature in stores and the best methods for looking after the plants in order to achieve commercial cultivation.
A priority concern is also to inculcate them with the awareness that cultivation for purposes other than specified by law will be a criminal act.
He added that that there was nothing to be worried about because the government would be making sure that the Thai people would reap the maximum benefits from the bill. (TNA)
