BRUSSELS, OCT 18 (TNA) – Thai Prime Minister Gen Prayut
Chan-o-cha has arrived in Belgium to attend the 12th Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM)
Summit.
Gen Prayut will also attend other related meetings including
EU-ASEAN Leaders’ Meeting during his three-day trip.
Right after his arrival Thursday morning, the prime minister
was greeted by Thai expatriates and members of the diplomatic corps at a hotel
in Brussels.
Gen Prayut is scheduled to attend the opening of the ASEM
Summit Thursday evening.
Government officials have said the premier will present his
vision for political, economic and social and cultural cooperation. He will
hold bilateral talks with at least five leaders.
Gen Prayut is expected to assure other leaders of Thailand’s
readiness to assume Association of the Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) chair
next year. He will reiterate Thailand’s
commitment in multilateral efforts to tackle regional and global problems such
as terrorism, migration and the proliferation of weapons of mass
destruction.(TNA)
