BANGKOK, Oct 17 (TNA) – Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha will attend the 12th Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) in Brussels on Oct 18-20 and will present Thailand’s stances on the world’s major issues.
Deputy government spokesman Werachon Sukondhapatipak said ASEM was the world’s biggest inter-regional meeting and its outcomes had impacts on global development and responses to global challenges.
The upcoming meeting set two agenda for its plenary session, he said. The first topic concerns inclusive growth, the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, development with digital technologies, and sustainable tourism. The second topic deals with global security challenges, cyber security, anti-terrorism efforts, irregular migration and marine security.
Lt Gen Werachon said that on the occasion Prime Minister Prayut would speak on environmental protection, human resources development and the development of digital economy. Besides, the prime minister would have bilateral talks with his counterparts from many countries to boost relations with them.
The deputy government spokesman said the 12th ASEM would include the EU-ASEAN Leaders’ Meeting to discuss cooperation between Europe and Southeast Asia. (TNA)
