BRUSSELS, Dec 15 (TNA) – Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha attended the ASEAN-EU Commemorative Summit and proposed constructive interaction, humanitarian assistance and support for green transition and digital transformation.
At 2.45pm on Wednesday, local time, Gen Prayut who is also the defence minister attended the summit which marked the 45th anniversary of ASEAN-EU dialogue relations. Leaders from nine other ASEAN member states and 27 European countries were also in the meeting.
Gen Prayut said the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and the European Union were determined to jointly deal with challenges for the peace and well-being of people and both regions already proved the importance and international benefits of their partnerships over the past 45 years.
For regional and global interest, the prime minister said that EU should interact constructively with all parties and create the conditions that would facilitate development.
He also said that Thailand would cooperate with EU to promote academic partnership and the exchange of knowledge and experiences to improve the environmental standards of ASEAN.
Thailand was ready to work for food security and would host an international conference on food security and sustainability next year, Gen Prayut said. He invited national leaders to the event.
For digital transformation, he said Thailand was pleased with the Global Gateway initiative of EU, supported infrastructure development and proposed an ASEAN-EU workshop on the application of artificial intelligence (AI) for economic and social development. (TNA)
