BANGKOK, Oct 16 (TNA) – Young footballers of the Wild Boars
team on Tuesday presented Asia Game Changer Award 2018 that they had received
from the Asia Society in New York to Thai Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha.
All 13 members of the Moo Pa Academy football team, better known as the
Wild Boars who endured 17-day ordeal in the flooded Tham Luang Cave in Chiang
Rai, have just concluded their trip to Argentina and the US.
Mr. Narongsak Osotthanakorn, who headed the dramatic rescue
operation at Tham Luang cave as the then Governor of Chiang Rai, led the team
in the meeting with Gen Prayut at Government House to present the Asia Game
Changer Award.
The award was a great honour and should inspire everyone to
make a difference for the society, Mr. Narongsak said.
Gen Prayut took the opportunity to take selfies with the
boys as well as lauded them for representing Thailand in their tour.
He reminded the boys of the great sacrifices by rescuers
including that of ex-Navy Seal officer Saman Gunan who lost his life while
taking part in the rescue operation.
The young boys and their coach confirmed with Prayut that
they had not agreed to give intellectual rights to any filmmakers as reported
by foreign media.
During the overseas trip, the Wild Boars team attended the
summer Youth Olympics in Argentina and appeared on the popular Ellen Show in
the US.(TNA)
