BANGKOK, Jan 20 — Thai Ministry of Commerce assured that there is enough palm oil to response the domestic demands and advised the public not to be worried.
Deputy Director of Internal Trade Department (ITP) Santichai Santawapas has asked the public not to panic by starting to stock up on palm oil , despite the fact of the lower reserves of palm oil in the country, as the National Oil Palm Policy Committee has approved the imports of 50,000 tonnes of palm oil from abroad and would propose the measure to the Cabinet today.
He said the move would help to increase the palm oil to meet demands, while domestic productions ofl palm oil would also be released at the end of next month, further ensuring that the product would meet demands in Thailand, said the ITP director.
Mr Santichai said that palm oil would be sold at a reasonable price as the National Oil Palm Policy Committee has already set a price ceiling at Bt42 for a one litre bottle of palm oil, adding that he also believes that the imports of palm oil could also help to reduce the price for the oil domestically.
