SA KAEO, June 11 (TNA) – Thai authorities have implemented new, relaxed border crossing regulations specifically for students commuting between Thailand and Cambodia, effective today.
This significant adjustment aims to alleviate the daily challenges faced by students impacted by previously stricter border operational hours.
The initiative, led by the Burapha Task Force, now permits eligible students to cross the border during two dedicated windows: 6:00 AM to 8:00 AM in the morning and 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM in the evening.
These students are no longer required to present standard travel documents, streamlining their passage and reducing bureaucratic hurdles. This policy primarily benefits Cambodian students residing in Thailand but attending schools across the border, as well as their counterparts from Cambodia who study in Thai educational institutions.
At the Khlong Luek permanent border checkpoint in Aranyaprathet district, Sa Kaeo province, observers noted a steady flow of students from various academic levels utilizing the new, earlier crossing times. While the process is eased, Thai immigration officials are still maintaining order by requiring all students to present their student identification cards.
This relaxed protocol is not limited to Khlong Luek; it extends across four strategically important border points within Sa Kaeo province. These include the permanent checkpoints at Khlong Luek and Khao Din, along with the temporary border trade points at Ta Phraya and Nong Prue.
It is important to note that for the general public, including tourists and parents who are not students, the standard border crossing hours of 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM remain unchanged. -819 (TNA)
