SONGKHLA, Oct 6 (TNA) – The Vegetarian Festival started in its New Normal style at the Guanyin Suanmak shrine on Suan Mak Road in Muang district of the southern province.
The festival was scheduled to last nine days from Oct 6 to 14. Ceremonies were suspended except morning and evening prayer meetings due to ongoing COVID-19 outbreaks.
Its vegetarian food canteen opened for giveaways as usual but people were required to take away the food and prohibited from eating it there.
The prices of vegetables soared. At the Sapsin Plaza market, parsley was available at 220 baht per kilogram, up from 200 baht. Celery was sold at 180 baht, up from 120 baht, per kilogram and lettuce at 120 baht, from 80 baht, per kilogram.
Their prices were rising in the Vegetarian Festival as vendors said vegetable gardens were flooded in many central plain provinces. (TNA)
