BANGKOK, Sept 16 (TNA) – The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has postponed its reopening to welcome tourists from Oct 1 to Oct 15 as full doses of COVID-19 vaccinations have covered only 37% of people in the capital so far, according to the tourism and sports minister.
Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, the minister of tourism and sports, said Bangkok governor Aswin Kwanmuang reported that the BMA would take until the end of September or early October to vaccinate at least 70% of its population which was a criterion for the reopening of provinces to welcome tourists.
Meanwhile, Chiang Mai, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Phetchaburi and Chon Buri provinces were ready for their partial reopening on Oct 1, Mr Phiphat said.
Chiang Mai would reopen Muang, Mae Rim, Mae Taeng and Doi Tao districts; Phrachuap Khiri Khan would welcome visitors to Hua Hin district; Phetchaburi would do with Cha-am district; and Chon Buri would reopen Pattaya, Bang Lamung and Sattahip, the minister said. (TNA)
