PHUKET, June 30 (TNA) – Phuket will tomorrow reopen to foreign tourists under the “Phuket Sandbox” plan to stimulate its economy and tourism.
The visitors who received full doses of COVID-19 vaccines can tour Phuket right away without 14-day quarantine. If they want to visit other provinces, they must stay in Phuket for at least 14 days first.
Tomorrow four flights of four airlines will bring 440 foreign tourists to Phuket. One of Etihad Airways will arrive from Abu Dhabi, Qatar Airways from Dubai, Israel Airlines from Tel Aviv and Singapore Airlines from Singapore. The flight of Etihad Airways will land first, at 10.30am. Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha will welcome visitors at Phuket airport.
Government spokesman Anucha Burapachaisri said Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha would visit Phuket on Thursday (July1) to inspect the implementation of the Phuket Sandbox model to reopen the island to foreign visitors.
He is scheduled to inspect a screening system for people, travelling in and out of Phuket by land at the Phuket checkpoint and will preside over a meeting on the progress of the Phuket Sandbox, to be attended by representatives from government agencies and the private sector.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand expected about 9 billion baht to be in circulation in Phuket from July to September thanks to the reopening. (TNA)
