BANGKOK, March 30 (TNA) – Covid-19 vaccines will be sent to Thai border to inoculate local officials as Thailand is preparing for the potential influx of refugees from Myanmar.
Regarding concerns over the influx of refugees from Myanmar into Thailand following air strikes by the Myanmar army on an area held by an ethnic armed group, Deputy Prime Minister and Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said he had discussed the issue with the third Army Region commander.
The refugees will be allowed to stay at the border and vaccines will be distributed to those areas to inoculate Thai officials there.
Opas Karnkawinpong, Director-General of the Disease Control Department said that the Public Health Ministry’s Emergency Operations Center for the Covid-19 Situation had discussed the situation in Myanmar and at the Thai-Myanmar border.
Covid-19 vaccines will be distributed to 10 provinces, bordering Myanmar for security officials, including police, soldiers.
Today, the Public Health Ministry will start distribution of 800,000 doses of Sinovac vaccine after they have been verified by the Government Pharmaceutical Organization, he added. (TNA)
