NONTHABURI, Feb 2 (TNA) – Trade between Thailand and Myanmar resumed and commerce authorities expected export growth on Myanmar’s demand for Thai goods.
Somdet Susomboon, director-general of the Department of International Trade Promotion, quoted the Thai Trade Center in Yangon as reporting that Thai-Myanmar border trade resumed after Myanmar had closed its border temporarily. Besides, mobile phone and internet services returned to normal in the neighboring country.
According to Mr Somdet, Myanmar people were building up their stocks of consumer products, especially food, meat and drinking water. They formed long queues at markets and shops. However, consumer products remained available.
The director-general predicted that Thai exports would continue well in Myanmar because the neighboring country demanded Thai products, especially consumer products. The Myanmar military did not stop any business of the private sector, he said. (TNA)
