BANGKOK, August 27 (TNA) – Thailand aims to become the production hub for natural rubber gloves as shipment this year is expected to increase by 30 percent, netting around 50 billion baht this year.
Nakorn Takkavirapat, Governor of the Rubber Authority of Thailand (RAOT), said that Thai rubber gloves had been in high demand in light of the coronavirus pandemic.
The country’s rubber glove exports that generated about 37 billion baht in revenue annually before the pandemic would surge at least 30 percent this year. The outbreak had resulted in rising rubber glove demand rising from 250,000 million pieces a year, he said.
Malaysia remained the Number One exporter with 60 percent market share, followed by Thailand at around 15 percent, said Nakorn.
With the government’s support for protective equipment for medical professionals, the Rubber Authority of Thailand was upbeat that Thailand would become a global production hub of rubber gloves in the near future, the RAOT governor said. (TNA)
