PHANOM PENH, May 29 (TNA) – The Club of Cambodian Journalists (CCJ) and the Thai Journalists Association (TJA) have urged media, especially on social media, to verify sources before publishing information about the Thai-Cambodian border.
They stressed that careful reporting is crucial to avoid harming bilateral relations.
Both associations noted a rise in unverified border-related news, leading to widespread confusion and misinformation in both countries. Concerned this could fuel misunderstandings, the CCJ and TJA met urgently on May 28, 2025.
In a joint statement, they called on media in both nations to only publish information from credible sources and to avoid false reports, particularly concerning the border. They also urged social media users to consider the consequences before sharing such information.
The associations expressed hope that border incidents would be resolved peacefully through diplomatic channels, preserving the strong ties between Thailand and Cambodia. -819 (TNA)
