BANGKOK, Aug 24 (TNA) – The Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) celebrated its 70th anniversary in Thailand on Tuesday, marking seven decades of economic cooperation between the two countries.
JETRO Bangkok, the organization’s second-oldest overseas office, hosted a commemorative forum attended by high-ranking officials from both Thai and Japanese public and private sectors.
Ishiguro Norihiko, Chairman and CEO of JETRO’s headquarters in Japan, emphasized the organization’s philosophy of “moving forward while connecting the world” during his speech at the JETRO-Thailand Forum.
“Creating and linking innovation ecosystems both domestically and internationally is our most crucial activity,” he said, highlighting the importance of co-creation relationships between companies from both countries.
Thai Labor Minister Pipat Ratchakitprakarn congratulated JETRO Bangkok on its anniversary, recognizing its significant role in strengthening trade and investment ties between Thailand and Japan.
The forum featured a panel discussion on various topics, including potential Japanese contributions to addressing social issues in Thailand and the future of Thai-Japanese economic relations.
JETRO Bangkok, established in October 1954, is one of 75 overseas offices across 55 countries. The organization has adapted its activities over the years to align with changing times while maintaining its core mission of enhancing business relationships between Thailand and Japan.
JETRO intends to use its strengths in flexibility and agility to evolve and further develop economic relations between the two countries.
The event also included a startup showcase pitch event, reflecting JETRO’s commitment to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in the region. -819 (TNA)
