SONGKHLA, Dec 29 (TNA) – Malaysian tourists started to arrive in Songkhla’s Hat Yai district for the New Year countdown festivities.
The atmosphere in the commercial areas, specifically along Sanehanusorn Road in downtown Hat Yai is lively this morning.
Malaysian tourists are gradually making their way by bus, van, and private car to participate in the year-end festivities, causing a considerable amount of traffic in the area. Hotel rooms in the Hat Yai district have been fully booked throughout this weekend.
This year, the Hat Yai municipality is organizing the “Hatyai Countdown 2024” event on the night of December 31, along Suphasan Rangsan Road.
Mr. Sitthipong Sitthiphatprapa, the president of the Hat Yai-Songkhla Hotel Association said that it is anticipated that from December 29 to 31, there will be international tourists passing through Sadao Immigration Checkpoint, averaging no less than 20,000 people per day, contributing to at least 600 million baht money in circulation during this period.
Meanwhile, this year, it is expected that the number of Thai tourists traveling for holiday celebrations during the New Year holiday will increase.
It is estimated that during the year-end festivities, there will be no less than one billion baht money being circulated in the province. -819 (TNA)
