CHONBURI, Nov 10 (TNA) – A Japanese tourist fell victim to theft in Pattaya.
Mr. Toshiak Shinohe, a Japanese national, reported to the Pattaya City Police Station after being pickpocketed while riding a Songthaew taxi or a modified pickup truck to accommodate passengers along Soi Bua Khao Pattaya in Bang Lamung District.
He recounted that he and a friend were on the Songthaew when two ladyboys sat beside him. They were engaged in conversation to distract his attention. When the women departed, Shinohe discovered his wallet missing along with 40,000 Thai baht, 100,000 yen (approximately 23,000 baht), various ATMs and identification cards.
He then filed a complaint with the police.
In another case, Mr. Zhenghang Zhang, a 34-year-old Chinese national, reported an assault to the same police station. He told the police through a translation app that after visiting a bar in Soi 6, he paid 4,200 baht to a Thai woman and brought her to his room.
Upon reaching his accommodation, the woman made a call in Thai, and soon after, two Thai men arrived, assaulted Zhang, and fled on a motorcycle.
A hotel security guard witnessed the Chinese man and Thai woman in front of the hotel and saw two Thai men in black jackets accusing the Chinese man of stealing 15,000 baht from the woman. They physically attacked the Chinese tourist before fleeing on a motorcycle. (TNA)
