Thailand is set to face China in the championship match this evening. The Thai women’s volleyball team, known for their determination, is gearing up for a fierce showdown.
In yesterday’s semi-final match held at the Korat Chatchai Hall, Thailand’s women’s volleyball team, led by “Coach Duan” Danai Sriwatcharamethakul, faced off against Japan, the former champions and the world’s 8th-ranked team. In an intense five-set match, the Thai team, which boasts two-time Asian champions (2009 and 2013) and is ranked 14th in the world, beat Japan, five-time titleholders 3-2.
Thailand secured the first set with a 25-23 win but lost the next two sets with scores of 19-25 and 20-25. In the fourth set, the Thai players rallied together amid the cheers of their dedicated fans and secured a 25-20 win, resulting in a 2-2 tie. The decisive final set saw the Thai team triumph with a score of 15-11. In this thrilling match, “Bumbim” Chatchu-on Moksri led the way with a high-scoring performance of 20 points, propelling Thailand to the championship showdown with China, the 13-time champions and 5th-ranked team in the world, scheduled for 6:00 PM today.
After the game, Coach Danai praised his team’s exceptional efforts in reversing the situation and clinching victory. The upcoming match against China promises to be a tough battle, but the Thai team is prepared to give their best.
“Chompoo” Pornpun Guedpard and “Pure” Ajcharaporn Kongyot expressed their delight at successfully overcoming the pressure and finally defeating Japan, a team that had been a formidable opponent for some time. On the other hand, the Chinese women’s volleyball team, secured a victory against Vietnam, the 40th-ranked team in the world, with a clean sweep of 3-0 sets (25-13, 25-12, 25-22) to advance to the championship round.
