BANGKOK, Aug 2 (TNA) – The Move Forward Party (MFP) has apologized to the people that the party is unable to push for the establishment of a government that respects their aspirations through the election process.
The Pheu Thai party on Wednesday announced that they would form a government independently, without the involvement of the election-winning MFP and decided to withdraw from the MOU made for the formation of an eight-party coalition government and a separate MOU between Pheu Thai and MFP during their negotiation for selecting the House Speaker.
After the Pheu Thai party broke away from the MOU, Chaithawat Tulathon, MFP secretary-general said that the issue of amending Section 112 is merely an excuse and not the real reason for the split.
Pheu Thai has not requested the MFP to reconsider its plan to amend Section 112, and there have been no negotiations regarding this matter throughout the process, he said.
Pheu Thai party reasoned that almost all the political parties they have spoken with did not want the MFP to join the government, whether there would be amendments to Section 112 or not. Furthermore, Pheu Thai did not ask MFP to vote for its prime minister candidate on August 4, as it is the right of each party.
Chaithawat said some leaders of Pheu Thai expressed concerns that if MFP votes for the candidate from the Pheu Thai party, senators may not trust Pheu Thai, as they worry that after the election of the prime minister is completed, Pheu Thai may invite the MFP to join the government. (TNA)
