BANGKOK, April 12 (TNA) – The Army Staff Judge Advocate on Wednesday brought in the army sergeant who claimed he held the personal data of 55 million Thais to surrender to the police.
The suspect identified as a second class army sergeant major was charged with bringing false information into the computer system after he threatened to release the personal data of 55 million Thais stolen from a state agency.
He turned himself in to the police at the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau.
If his wife who is a nurse was involved in the hack, a legal action will be taken against her and the couple’s case will proceed to the civilian justice system.
The suspect is tech-savvy and the police seized many items of hacking equipment during a search at his place. (TNA)
