BANGKOK, Nov 25 (TNA) – Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak hoped Thailand would be among the top 20 countries in the Ease of Doing Business ranking of the World Bank next year.
He ordered relevant officials to further improve business facilitation in the country to boost confidence among investors in Thailand after Thailand was ranked 21st, up six positions from 27th, in the Ease of Doing Business ranking.
Mr Somkid said he told the Office of the Public Sector Development Commission to publicize business facilitation measures so that general people and investors could cooperate with the government to reduce business obstacles in Thailand.
Regarding economic overview, the deputy prime minister said the Finance Ministry was working out more economic stimulus measures to promote domestic consumption to support national economy. He said that the stimulation actually had to depend on exports, cost of living, government spending and assistance for farmers.
Apart from the Finance Ministry, the Transport Ministry, the Agriculture and Cooperatives Ministry and the Commerce Ministry were trying to stimulate the economy, Mr Somkid said.
Finance Minister Uttama Savanayana said he would propose more stimulus measures to the cabinet soon and that he started to see signals of economic recovery. (TNA)
